Fair Usage Policy
DTC Direct is committed to providing you with a quick and reliable broadband service suitable for business use whenever you use it. A very small number of customers regularly transfer large amounts of data throughout the day and this usage can significantly reduce the speed at which other customers can access the Internet during peak times due to the high amount of bandwidth required. For this reason we need to ensure that the majority of our customers get a fair deal and, therefore, a Fair Usage Policy applies to all customers.
If you regularly stream video and use Peer 2 Peer software you may fall into our high user category and we reserve the right to place you in a high user group; depending on the severity of your usage we may do this without prior notice and inform you by post or email. In the majority of cases we will notify you beforehand giving you time to reduce your usage. If the usage continues at this level and impacts on other users we will contact you again requesting that you reduce your usage otherwise your service may be suspended or disconnected.
Examples of 10 Gigabytes worth of data transfer:
- Send and receive a total of 100,000 emails
- View over 100,000 standard web pages
- Transfer over 10,000 1mb files
Fair use policy also applies to the free amount of local and national calls supplied on the unlimited bundle. This must not exceed 1200 mins per calender month.
